History:
From a small fishing village named Edo in 300 BC Tokyo has become a massive metropolis for activity and is now one of the largest megacities in the world. In the twelfth century it was fortified and became home to Edo Castle (Imperial Palace).From when the US navy first commenced Western trade with Tokyo from this point onwards a massive growth occurred which made the way for modern day Tokyo. From the rebuilding after many natural disasters and bombings Tokyo has emerged as a true megacity of the world. With a wide array of festivals and events Tokyo is a amazing place to be. From traditional practices Tokyo has also a wide array of modern activities for people to take place in and a massive amount of festivals available to participate in. With people coming from all over the world to experience. Culture: Tokyo is the cultural centre of Japan having originated from the Jomon culture with influences from China, Korea, Europe and America who impacted the culture massively to create a culture which is vibrant, exciting and truly one of a kind. Tokyo's unique culture is reflected through the arts with a range of traditional and modern day types of art. Including some well known arts such as origami and Japanese traditions, one of them being flower arranging. However these arts aren't just for Japanese people to participate in but are designed so that people moving to Japan can participate in these types of art which offer an amazing experience for people moving to Japan Religion: Religion doesn't play a big part in the lives of most Japanese people however Religious customs are still practised and religious holidays are still celebrated. The two main types of religion commonly practised in Japan are Shintoism and Buddhism or a combination of both. This offers visitor to Japan a wonderful opportunity to participate in these beautiful traditions and to experience the culture that is evident through these religions. A culture which is all about community, inclusiveness and worship. Sporting: Tokyo has many major world-class sporting stadiums which will soon play host to the Summer Olympics which is sure to be electric if the other Olympics held in Tokyo previously are any sort of prediction. This is sure to light up the city which is known to never stop moving and will be an amazing place to be in 2020 for the Summer Olympics. This will also bring many people to Tokyo and will allow visitors to experience the wonderful and vibrant culture that is apparent and evident in Tokyo. A culture which will be at its best for this amazing event meaning that people will truly be able to see the beauty of Tokyo while its at its most vibrant, exciting and beautiful. With many people who attend the opening ceremony being treated to a small taste of this exciting culture this Olympics is sure to be a memorable event which will stay in everyones mind for a very long time. Cuisine: In Tokyo and most of Japan cuisine plays a massive part in citizens life, with traditional food which has been made for centuries to modern and innovative food which is thoroughly beautiful, Tokyo has it all. Some popular and common cuisine here include sushi,noodles and seafood however over the recent years much of the traditional Japanese cuisine has been widely ate all over the world. But few first-time visitors to Japan are prepared for the variety of Japanese cuisine as its traditionally eaten and enjoyed. Eating in Japan is an experience to be enjoyed and remembered fondly for the rest of your life, an experience that is true to Japan and reflects its wonderful and exciting culture. Transport: The Tokyo public transport system is the fastest and most convenient way to travel around the city. With a state of art train system and a wide array of buses and one of the best public transport systems in the world, travelling around the city is as easy as a breeze. The public transport system is also a reasonable and convenient way to get around the city with many stops for buses and trains, travelling around the city for a fraction of the price private buses of taxi's charge to the same location. The Tokyo train system is also one of the biggest in the world and at peak hour has so many people using it the government employs staff to push citizens onto the train in order to fill the trains to the capacity.
